EJ Underground have been making seismic waves through the underground on the back of a string of powerful releases that have been picking up attention from some of the biggest hitters in the DJ world. Quality House and Techno is focus and the label has developed a high end and like-minded roster of talent that resonates with the label’s love for premium quality electronic music. This Autumn, DJ/Producer maestro Dale Middleton steps up to deliver ‘Tord’ a typically sharp production that’ll be right at home on his discography that’s already found releases with the likes of Parquet Recordings, SexOnWax, Outside The Box, Lowbit, Dopamine Music, Sound Avenue, System Recordings, DAR Digital and many more.

TORD

“No two sections are the same, the progressive nature of the track makes the production grow exponentially – which is impressive as the single is by no means a radio edit at nearly eight minutes long.”

‘Tord’ is a suave, addictive and seriously progressive workout that tickles the ears and pulls you into the fluctuating layers and will leave you wanting more, which is a skill in itself, but the most impressive part of the production is that the want for more is delivered with every new synth and melody that streams in through the track’s length. The production starts stripped-back, but by the third quarter it’s a barrage of lush synths, tight melodies and uplifting FX and risers that are euphoric without ever being overstated or brash. No two sections are the same, the progressive nature of the track makes the production grow exponentially – which is impressive as the single is by no means a radio edit at nearly eight minutes long. It’s a nod to classic Progressive House, but merged with elements of modern deeper club styles and Tom’s signature synths – ‘Tord’ is an entirely unique single. We’re not at all surprised that early supporters include the global heavyweights including Guy J, Darin Epsilon, Dubfire, Colin Dale, Sam Devine, Stacey Pullen, Dave Angel, Amine Edge and Dance, Hector De Mar, Richie Fingers, Wez Saunders, Silvio Hrabar, Terry Vernixx, Cid Inc, Baunder, Jordan Bordes, Sossa, Rob Roar, Gareth Whitehead and many, many more. The best DJs in the business are rallying to support the release – an early, but strong indicator that ‘Tord’ is set for big things. The production was crying out for a remix package and the good people at EJ Underground have not held back – presenting a huge line-up that recruits some of the most innovative brains in the House music world.

THE REMIXES

Following on from her latest release ‘Who Dem Talk’ on Motion, Chloe Fontaine brings a fresh and flirty flavour to her rework of ‘Tord’: using a wide range of tribalistic percussion and creating an upbeat and floral tone reminiscent of the fading summer. Criss-crossing rhythms and melodies twist into one another, whilst paying key attention to her use of space and ably constructing a gradual build-up of momentum. It is easy to understand why this lady is such hot property right now!

The eminent Dave Seaman – electronic stalwart and gentleman responsible for making Mixmag a household name amongst dance fanatics the world over – takes things in an interesting direction with his reworking of ‘Tord’. Firstly pulling everything back to a bare minimum, then progressing in the other direction with filthy bass elements and distorted alien-sounding vocal samples, Dave keeps things characteristically weird, underground and experimental throughout with another stand-out remix from the Yorkshire dance master.

D-Formation brings in the bulk with a prominent kick drum and warbling sub bass. A funky and heavy bass drives things forward, balanced alongside ethereal vocal inserts and gently swelling strings. A real dance-floor killer, the build-up on D-Formation’s remix is custom-made to assuredly send any rave wild – with him teasing the listener with the drop throughout.

Last but not least, Bournemouth-based DJ Lee Williams also steps in for a remix. Formerly a bedroom DJ, his unique style of mixing together Progressive House and Techno has seen him take on some of London’s biggest club nights. Taking things into a dark Techno edge from the start with eerie mechanical sounds and an industrial, slightly slowed-down vibe, Lee tackles his remix of ‘Tord’ with utter finesse.

EJ Underground are pulling out all the stops for ‘Tord’, not just on the remixes but with a huge launch party on November 1st at The Winchester (Bournemouth) with sets from Dale Middleton, Dave Seaman and Lee Williams – all reliable and widely celebrated talents that know a thing or two about getting a dance floor moving.

‘Tord’ will be available October 2014 – stay tuned for news and more.
