Big Boi stars in ‘Star’

Outkast’s Big Boi is the latest in a string of luminaries from the music and modelling world to join the cast of Star.

Guesting on an episode of the Atlanta-based musical drama, the rapper plays himself and gets roped into producing a demo for the show’s rising girl group. When a row heats up between the girls and their guardian, Big Boi relieves himself of the session.

The show also features Queen Latifah, Lenny Kravitz, and Naomi Campbell, and follows the journey of 18 year-old Star, who after spending a childhood spent in foster homes attempts to escape the ghosts of her past by becoming famous.

Star isn’t the first foray into the thespian world for Big Boi – real name Antwan Patton. Among the TV shows and films he’s appeared in to date are Wild ‘n OutWho’s Your Caddy, and Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, in addition to being a playable character in the Def Jam: Icon video game.
