Owners of Camden’s Koko plan new developments for the venue

It has been reported that Vevil International, the company that own Camden’s Koko, are planning to build a hotel in a bid to save the venue’s future.

The venture comes after the company won a High Court challenge to stop the adjacent pub being turned into flats – which could have evoked noise complaints that may have endangered the business. Subsequently, Vevil bought three nearby buildings to avoid a similar situation arising again.

Now it’s emerged that Vevil want to develop these properties into a 32-roomed hotel. Although the boutique hotel will be separate from Koko, the 117-year-old venue will also see a significant restoration and refurbishment, which will include the addition of a bar and function room, as well as a recording studio.

Co-owner Olly Bengough told the Evening Standard: “We are extremely excited about the refurbishment and hotel proposals, which will allow Camden’s heritage to thrive in the future.”
