Quo arrive at Parfitt’s send-off on tour bus

Veteran rockers Status Quo attended bandmate Rick Parfitt’s ‘gig themed’ funeral this week in suitable form; arriving on a tour bus.

Parfitt’s bandmate of 50 years, Francis Rossi, led the charge, and was joined by fellow remaining Quo members Andy Bown, John ‘Rhino’ Edwards, Leon Cave, and Richie Malone – who joined the band as a touring guitarist last year after Parfitt left due to poor health.

Also in attendance was Spandau Ballet’s Tony Hadley, and messages were left by Queen guitarist Brian May and TV presenter Chris Tarrant.

Hadley said of Parfitt: “Memories that come back to me are like Live Aid and Band Aid the record. Rick and Francis were just the funniest couple of guys when you’re doing a record like that. He was just a really terrific fella.”

Parfitt passed away on Christmas Eve aged 68, from a ‘severe infection’ after being admitted to hospital for a shoulder injury.
