Skepta’s manager’s defiant rallying cry

Skepta’s manager has sent a defiant rallying cry out to the world after the grime producer’s triumphant BRIT Award nomination.

Posting on her Instagram page, Grace Ladoja wrote this rousing statement: “They have to accept us. They have to accept our anarchist attitude. They have to accept that we don’t give a f**k. They have to accept our blood, sweat and tears. They have to accept our outsider authenticity. They have to accept our independence. They have to accept our no days off. They have to accept our unbreakable bond. They have to accept us as equals. They have to accept we are happy every single day. They have to accept there is a new blueprint in music.”

Last year’s Awards were notoriously lacking in diversity in all but the international categories, to the extent that the much-publicised #BRITsSoWhite hashtag was spawned.

Skepta has been nominated in three categories for this year’s Awards, due to be held on February 22nd at London’s O2 Arena – Best Male, Best Breakthrough and Best Album.
