The track above is an early demo of a new track coming soon from singer-songwriter Tom Ryder, ready for its proper release on April 19th in aid of Macmillan Cancer Care. The track itself was written in a quickfire session with just a voice and acoustic guitar, soon after both Tom’s grandfather and father were diagnosed with cancer.
In spite of its unfortunate inspiration, the song is lovely, as is the news that money from each sale will be donated to the Macmillan charity as a thank you for the hard work they’ve put in to help Tom Ryder’s family.
Influenced by songwriters such as Damien Rice and Ben Howard who are known for laying their emotions bare in their lyrics, this track is as brave and heartfelt as they come. The fact that it’s such a good song on top of all that is a real triumph.
