A young singer-songwriter who has been compared with none other than Nick Drake, Josh Healey is today celebrating the release of his new EP – available to buy on iTunes and to stream in full:
With a vocal that’s distinct in its softness and a range of acoustic guitar styles laid underneath, Healey is a songwriter who is able to weave messages into his songs without bashing you over the head with them. A prime example of this sees him bemoaning the shallowness of celebrity/magazine culture with his tongue firmly in cheek in the track ‘People Like You’.
Meanwhile, opener ‘Sometimes’ has the gentle touch reminiscent of US songwriter Joshu Radin.
It won’t be to everybody’s tastes – those who like a little but more ‘oomph’ will be left cold – but for those who find the warm and fuzzies of a nice vocal and acoustic guitar, this is as warm and fuzzy as it gets.
