EP Review: Where the Bees Come To Die – Boy from the Crowd

Delta blues, edgy rock with some punk attitude pretty much sums Boy from the Crowd’s latest EP, “Where The Bees Come To Die”.

Singer/songwriter and fierce guitarist Vinny Piana and drummer Vegas Ivy are on a serious mission to give rock and blues a kick up the b-end and certainly makes no apologies for it.

Before the  hellraising explosion, a rather smooth, 70’s-style tone (similar to the Eagles) first graces the EP through “Revelator”, with a slight distorted rage of the guitar making a late entry.

The much anticipated explosion starts immediately with follow up effort “All I Need”. The aggressiveness of the  guitar takes the lead along with the dominant, spine-chilling vocals giving the recording that extra edginess and attitude. The smooth overtone lurks in the background, but makes its presence known (although brief) towards the end of the track.

Heading to the end of the EP, “Where the Bees Come to Die” reverts back to the smooth rock/blues…but it doesn’t last for long. That destructive guitar riffs comes along and (pleasantly) disrupts the tranquillity of the composition.

These East London-based fearless rockers are in a class act of their own. They didn’t  just give rock and the blues the much-needed kick up the B-end (that’s a major underestimation); they put a rocket right up there! Check out the EP.
