When you ask most 12 year old girls “What do you want to be when you grow up?” Most would reply “a nurse, a beautician, a hairdresser”. Olivia Kate’s response: “To perform in front of thousands all over the world like ‘One Direction’. Well, that dream may just come true.
Ever since Olivia Kate could speak she made up silly little songs and rhymes which she sang everywhere and anywhere…
By age 9, Olivia Kate had already developed her own preferences in music and it is evident when listening to her yearningly soulful voice that blues and jazz run through her veins. Her main influences being the likes of Nina Simone, Nancy Sinatra, Amy Winehouse and Eva Cassidy.
However, the ‘moment’ happened when she picked up her first guitar aged 11. Whilst Olivia Kate’s friends were experimenting with makeup, having sleepovers and talking about the latest fashions, she would lock herself away in the dining room at home, in her PJ’s, bandana in her hair, strumming on her guitar and writing lyrics (unbeknown to her parents until her mum found her song writing file last summer).
