Plum are set to release their debut EP Light Years, Dark Years

Since their inception late last year, four piece rock outfit Plum haven’t done too badly. In their short existence, they’ve opened for The Districts, soul man Charles Bradley and songwriter and lead vocalist of Arcade Fire Win Butler.

So their debut EP “Light Years, Dark Years” should be a safe bet. What’s so admirable about these guys is that they know their niche and they are sticking to it. As soon as you hit the play button on the EP, their introductory piece wastes no time and display a familiarity of a racy, 70’s-inspired psychedelic rock. Immediately you know what these guys are about.

Stepping down a couple of tempos, second effort “Cosmic Vice” is pleasantly hypnotic and trance-like, drawing all influences of the swinging decade. Rock’n’ Roll meets the raciness of the slight feather-like rock through “Love Is In The Air”, creating that vintage feel of the early 70s. A guitar-drench number concludes the EP through “Hypnagaga” which feature an entry of funk for the first time, giving the entire arrangements  that much needed kick (you know, that blood-rushing feeling) to end their offering on a great high.

Plum have effortlessly created something that’s organic and rich with their debut EP and it won’t be long before they’ll be the headline act. “Light Years, Darks Years” will sure be appreciated by rock fans of the aforementioned decades.

The EP is set for release on 7th December via SoundCloud.
