Contrary to the title of the above single, Sam Scherdel is a songwriter who is not standing still. With a raw, memorable vocal and an ear for a killer melody, he is a songwriter who is going places – metaphorically and literally.
With support already from Radio 1, BBC Introducing and the festival circuit, his music is perhaps closest in sound to the likes of the Stereophonics (before they lost their edge). It’s refreshing to hear a distinctive voice in a market which is so homogenised, and music fans should eat this up. It’s fresh, it’s upbeat without being cheesy, it’s just good music.
The new EP, ‘Cruel Beautiful World’ is out now, and is being supported by a UK tour which starts on Friday and runs until a home gig in Sheffield in April Get along if you can.
Tour Dates:
Fri 23rd January Little Theatre Doncaster
Tues 3rd February Thirsty Scholar Manchester
Wed 4th February Double Denim Leeds
Sat 21st February Proud Camden (London)
Fri 3rd April O2 Academy Sheffield
