Hailing from London’s Caledonian Road, today’s Track of the day comes from 21-year-old newcomer Tom Tripp. This kid’s not only a talented producer, building the beat for ‘Aurelia’ himself, but he’s also got soul. Clearly taking inspiration from the likes of Jai Paul and Majid Jordan, Tripp’s latest track echoes the personality of Paul’s ‘Jasmine’.
‘Aurelia’ showcases Tripp’s beautifully strained vocals amidst a rippling unpredictable stop-start beat. Distant distorted wails soar above the tracks submerged bluesy guitar riffs, balancing the sounds above, below and beyond, leaving room for Tripp to hit the middle mark right in the heart. If Jasmine had a younger sister – she’d definitely be called ‘Aurelia’.
