Alan Prater

Florida-born Alan Prater first became acquainted with music in grade five when he learned to play the violin. Coming from a family of gospel singers, he had plenty of encouragement. Yet it wasn’t until his high school years that Alan began to explore music independently by joining a marching band.

While in the marching band, he learned to play drums and the trombone. He soon became one of Florida’s top trombonists. Indeed, Fast-forward, years later he would be inducted into the North Florida Music Hall of Fame, as a member of the East Coast Horns, a group that he put together and which accompanied Michael Jackson and The Jacksons.

As Alan’s career grew, so did the scope of his talent. He continued to learn various instruments, including his voice. And in addition to being a sought-after musician, he also became an accomplished producer and songwriter. All of this talent, and an unwavering dedication to honing his skills, led him to perform and record with some of the world’s most respected artists Michael Jackson, Millie Jackson, The OJs, Cameo, on the world’s most famous stages Radio City Music Hall, Carnegie Hall, Avery Fisher Hall and Madison Square Garden.
