Two years on from the release of her critically acclaimed debut EP War which was championed by the likes of BBC 1Xtra, Rinse FM, Stupid Dope, SBTV and Urban Development, Essex singer-songwriter Beverley Ely returns in 2015 with her brand new single ‘So Dumb’ featuring Grime veteran Mercston, the first offering from her forthcoming sophomore EP Second Chance At A First Impression, set for release on November 12.

Produced by King Kev (Bonkaz, Jumpoff TV), ‘So Dumb’ sees Ely waxing autobiographical about being oblivious to her failing relationship, despite warnings from friends and family. According to Beverley, “I do often refer to relationships as if they were a game of football. When you are on the pitch, you only see the ball, however when you are watching in the audience, you are seeing a wider angle, therefore you are able to see all the mistakes that are being made”.

With her stirring vocal display, relatable lyrics, gripping songwriting, and artistic versatility, as evident on new single ‘So Dumb’, it is no wonder that Beverley Ely can count the likes of Grammy Award winning producersRodney Jerkins (Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey), and Jim Jonsin (Beyoncé, Lil Wayne,Eminem), as well as Toolroom legend Dave Parkinson (Benny Benassi, Tiësto, Paul Oakenfold) as fans.

Alongside her own burgeoning solo career, Ely has also contributed to some of your favourite House hits from the past three years, most notably collaborating with House stalwarts DJ Anna and Long & Harris on tunes such as ‘Secret’, as heard on the Hed Kandi The Mix 2015 compilation, and ‘Vicious Games’ which featured on Toolroom Records’ Ibiza 2013 Volume 1.

As anticipation start to build for Beverley Ely’s sophomore EP Second Chance At A First Impression, we can expect to be treated to a flurry of exciting new music and visuals from Beverley Ely, which will not only share glimpses of what to expect from the forthcoming EP, but also show Ely’s growth as a person and artist since her War EP two years ago. To that end, she is proud and happy to share the Minyahil K. Giorgis-directed visuals for ‘So Dumb’ with the world!
