D.Oh gives a Lukewarm Reception through his latest EP

D.Oh is a project that came to life in 2012 from Daniel Oh’s bedroom.  With serious experimentation with jazz, blues, pop and rock, and further along the line electronic music, this student from University of Toronto managed to crank up a pretty neat package that’s strangely a cross between The Weeknd, James Blake and BANKS through his latest EP, “A Lukewarm Reception”.

The four track production introduces a smooth build up to a rich (and I have to say) a very likable fusion of electronic dance and indie pop with, “There Goes My Heart”.  An alluringly smooth presence of jazz, blues and rock follows in “Shut Me Down” where Oh gives the shock factor with his equally alluring soulful jazzy vocals.

Continuing the smooth and seamlessly fusions (which is assumingly his trademark), “49” adopts hip-hop inspired rhythms incorporated with seamless afterhours  bassline and distorted delivery. Concluding the EP, is “Scaring the Child”. Just like the intro track, it builds up into something that’s pretty magical with that infamous electronic drive becoming  more dominant than ever, potentially leaving any prospective listener on a high.

In short, Daniel Oh’s EP certainly doesn’t offer a lukewarm reception. Have a listen for yourself.
