Humor ready to release ‘TLC’ off of EP ‘XLCR’

pic2This week MOBO nominations were announced, the week before Skepta won the 2016 Mercury Prize Award and then something landed in my inbox which is complete fire.

Humor is an artist hailing from Nottingham and he is releasing a single ‘TLC’ which just so happens to be the name of my favourite girl group ever… what a coincidence because, I LOVE this track. His new EP ‘XLCR’ too is full of squelchy synths and punchy 808’s, he spits with pure energy over the beats, he manages to keep it cool though, not going to over the top, he has just the right type of buzz.

His beats draw from a diverse palette of grime hip-hop, deep/tech house, electronica and 90s R&B. Inspired to produce his own instrumentals after struggling to afford decent beats, he has since honed his craft into a creative and polished sound.

And what makes this project even more exciting is the fact that he self-produced the whole thing… major talent.

He takes inspiration from the likes of Kendrick Lamar and Grime greats such as Kano, Ghetts and Skepta.

‘TLC’ is a track that has momentum throughout, I can only see big things for Humor, he is ready to put Notts on the map and break out to the rest of the UK, I’d happily say he is one of the best things I have heard come from the North of England in a long long time.
