SweetChix, formally known as SweetCheeks, began their journey in June 2010 with lots of local talent competitions. They came 3rd place in The Essex Factor with judges such as Rylan Clark and Lucy Texteira (2 shoes) in their first year together. In 2012 they were selected from acts around the country to appear on CBBC Sport Relief does Glee Club. The girls made it to the final 24 acts and appeared on the show on 12th March as “The Sweets” singing 3 songs chosen for them. Although they did not make it through the live final, they had a great time and experience and are looking forward to the next challenge. In 2013, known as “The Sweets,” the girls made it through to the final 15 acts and will be appearing on BBC 1 on March 12th on Comic Relief does Glee Club. SweetChix entered Teen Star Uk in 2013 and made it through to the Grand Final in the July at Indigo O2. The competition was fantastic but the girls were not faised and won their age category and came runners-up to X-Factors Luke Friend overall. This was a fantastic achievement as 9000 acts had originally entered all over the country.

Piotr Balkus: Many people got to know you through Britans Got Talent where you reached semifinal. But youve been singing together a way longer before…

Summer: Yes we’ve been together over 4 years now. Most of us have danced together from a very young age at Emery Stage School, Becca came along a bit later but was already a friend of my family so we knew each other from little.

Why you chose to go for BGT not X Factor? Maybe you would win the show like Little Mix did…

Jess: When we auditioned for BGT, the age limit for X-Factor was still 16 so we wer’nt old enough to audition. It got changed within this year so maybe we would have done that instead if we had known. Maybe we will do it one day??? [laughter]

Talking Little Mix, are the girls big influence on you?

Becca: We really like Little Mix. They are cool and current and can really sing. We have never tried to be like them but we do get compared to them quite alot

You are all very young not sure you remember girlband called Spice Girls… Do you know them and if so do you take an inspiration from their music.

Georgia: We love the Spice Girls. There has never been a girlband like them and we would like to fill that space. Our mums loved the spice girls so I suppose that’s how we know them and we have covered their song Mama in the past.

Any other artists you love and take inspirations from?

Tayler: Well we all like different really but Becca loves Beyonce and Jess has an obsession with Cheryl Cole. The rest of us like Rita Ora, Jessie J, Ellie Goulding, lots of different artists really oh and especially we all love Ed Sheeran.

Some bands are born to be successful. You are one of them I think. Whats your strongest point?

Summer: Thanks that’s lovely to hear and we hope we are. Our bond we think is our strongest point. We all know what we are good at and we stick to that. We don’t really have one lead singer like some bands, Becca and Jess share alot of the leads and Georgia normally raps if there is a rap, me and Tayler are on harmonies although we will have an odd line here and there as does Georgia. It seems to work because we are all happy to do whats best for the sound of the group.

I follow your career since 2013 before your adventure in BGT and still think your cover of Shackles
Praise You is amazing! Video too. Why you decided to cover this particular song?

Jess: [laughter] It’s not one of our favourites but at the time we loved that song. Not sure really, think we heard someone sing it and thought we could have a go at that. The video was filmed at a church in Barking and was just for fun really. People came and joined in and our friends and family are all in it so thats good too.

When we can expect your debut album and what are your plans for nearest future?

Becca: Well, since BGT we have been quite busy but now it’s time to start getting serious. We have met up with a few great people and we have someone who has written something for us but we want to start writing with them so the songs are actually coming from us. We want to stay fun and even though we take it seriously, we want to enjoy the experience too.

You come from Essex, the poshest part of UK. Are you posh girls or normal girls next door? Down-to-earth or down-to-glam?

Georgia: Posh??? Essex? It’s not posh here, lol . We do like to glam up but we are very normal down to earth girls.
Tayler: When we perform, we like to make an effort and look nice. We always blend our outfits, normally choose a colour theme and all wear our own style.
