Introducing: Nick De La Hoyde

Nick De La Hoyde is one musician who’s not afraid to explore places where no man has been before. The Australian singer/rapper/songwriter combined hip-hop, spoken word, mainstream pop/rock (think Taylor Swift or One Direction –  well kind of!) with lyrics that mirrors  a padlocked journal, harbouring  a cocktail of emotions. He tested his new-found trademark on social media – and it paid off as the 20-year-old  cranked up over 100k follows on Instagram in just 12 months.  He caught the attention of Lemoyne ‘LA’ Alexander, who worked with heavyweights including R Kelly and the late Aaliyah.  From that point, it’s very safe to assume that this newcomer never looked back.

His collaboration with the hip-hop producer lead to a tripped-out mix of alternative rock and hip-hop effort, “The Longest Way”. Released last October, the debut offering received heavy rotation on commercial radio stations across the US and made firm appearances on indie as well as  mainstream music charts.  His latest single, “Be My Side” is anticipated to continue the hype as it display a true representation of his style.  These singles have definitely pave the way for the EP, “Passion”.

Released last month, the six track collection features a theme of a seamlessly smooth groove, with  elements of spoken word making a surprise and  much welcomed appearance in  chilled out “Passion”. The EP takes an unexpected turn with last track, “No Consolation”.  The mop-haired boundary pusher effortlessly freestyle over a production that boldly boasts a seriously upbeat and get-up-and-dance funky vibe. “The Longest Way” and “Be My Side” are great introductions to the EP, but the last track  will definitely cause a stir, by cruelty leaving potential listeners yearning for future projects from this guy.
