Out of all the different careers within the music industry, what made you want to pursue a career as a producer? I didn’t really choose to become a record producer – one day I just realized I was already doing it. I was on the other side of the glass, performing, but in many cases the results I was striving for sonically were not really being fulfilled, so that’s when I decided that I needed to be on the Producer side of the glass to get the results I wanted to hear. Other than that, the seeds were already planted with my first experiences with cassette tapes and vinyl records when growing up.

As you’re working with developing and emerging talent, what value does that bring to the table for your career? It’s extremely exciting to work with emerging talents, because there’s plenty of room for possibilities. But it can be quite challenging too, as we may lose focus at times. With every new artist I work with, I learn something new about my own craft, and helping them accomplish their goals is very satisfying.

You’ve been nominated and won a GRAMMY in the past. What was that moment like for you as a creative?  The Latin Grammy win came during the brutal initial period of the Covid pandemic – as a matter of fact most of that work was done in my house, away from the studio, because of the lockdown. So that has a very special meaning. It’s also taught me that no matter how adverse the environment or situation may happen to be, we’ll always find creative solutions – as a matter of fact that’s just the nature of LIFE. We’re all creative people.

As the year continues to unfold for your career, what do you hope will come from this? My passion for my work just keeps growing more and more, every single day. It’s a very competitive market and we must be constantly recycling and upgrading our skills and knowledge. I am looking forward to hearing the results of this hard work. I’ve been working with great talent such as pop trio Triple Charm from Orlando, Florida.

You were recently part of a Snapchat Original series, what was that process like? When La’Ron invited me to be in the show, I got a little nervous as I am a bit shy of cameras, but I accepted and I am glad I did. Legendary singer Robin Thicke is the executive producer of the show, and in the series I am featured along with people like vocal coach Willie Norwood (Brandy’s father) and choreographer Phil Wright. In the show, “La’Ron in Million”, La’Ron shows the behind the scenes of what it takes to become a star. La’Ron, is a phenomenal singer and truly talented in all of his endeavors and it’s a blessing to work with this caliber of talent!
