12-year-old busker Allie Sherlock signs five-year record deal

Allie Sherlock, a 12-year-old busker from Douglas in Cork, has signed a five-year record deal with OneRepublic‘s Ryan Tedder.

The young singer first grabbed the world’s attention last summer when a video of her busking at Dublin’s Grafton Street singing Ed Sheeran‘s ‘Supermarket Flowers‘ went viral. After seeing one of her videos on Instagram, Tedder invited the songstress to Los Angeles.

Since the news broke about her five-year three-album record deal Sherlock has been inundated with television show appearances and interviews.

Speaking to Ray D’arcy on his TV show on Saturday night, she said: “Ryan Tedder is like the main singer in the band OneRepublic and a producer and a songwriter. He writes for Ed Sheeran and Adele mostly and then a few others, Sam Mendes, U2, Beyonce and Paul McCartney.”

Last month the Irish-native appeared on the Ellen Degeneres show for a live performance of Adele’s ‘Million Years Ago’.

Speaking about Ellen and her appearance on the show, Sherlock said: “I absolutely love her show and she was just so nice and friendly, and I was really nervous and during the break, she was saying me to calm down and she was just so nice about it which made everything much easier.
