A brand new release ‘What Makes You Think’ is full of both the beautiful and the grit of reality; beautiful in it’s composition, subtly and vocal performance, yet gritty in the harsh reality it conveys. Jay is a master at telling a story through her songwriting, and here is no exception.
There is something optimistic yet melancholic all at the same time in this song. The piano, guitar and vocal work harmoniously together and are warm in tone, and the blue words being sung contrast brilliantly. The strings emphasise this melancholic touch within the music. Meanwhile, the beat makes the song memorable and catchy, once again with an upbeat vibe yet tinted by the sadness in the lyrics. We’re happy to have discovered Jay and believe that the future is bright for this emerging talent.
