Listen to Tarter’s Flash EP, Minimal Techno Released by Universal Music

Tarter started to pave his way to bigger stages in 2015 when he was chosen by Richie Hawtin himself to be ambassador for Richie’s brand of mixers – PLAYdifferently – alongside masters such as Chris Liebing, Luciano, Dubfire, Loco Dice and Nicole Moudaber.

My fellow Music Crown readers, here we are today to talk about some hot new music, specially if you are one of those obscure party diggers with a particular appetite for abandoned hangars with techno-like music.

As a subsequent development of techno music, the minimalist approach of dance music is a product of the influence of artists such as Robert Hood, Daniel Bell in the early 90s and later Carl Craig, Jeff Mills and others.

From Detroit to Berlin and the world, in 2022 this subgenre called Minimal Techno is all over the world, including major labels as Universal Music which just released Flash EP, made by Tarter.

What first came as a solution for too ‘ravey’ sounds, also dresses for heavy partying. From a basic stripped down, raw sound. Just drums, basslines and funky grooves with only what’s essential to a bit more than that. Highlighted in the dance music scene of Brazil, Tarter  presents, in this EP, three tracks made between December 2021 and January 2022 that matches this description.

“The pandemic made possible for me to study several concepts in much more depth and today I’m able to reach results beyond what I’ve ever imagined.”

As the artist says, the experience in music production accumulated over the years was materialized in the three songs that make up the Flash EP. “For a long time I had ideas and music references that I would like to be able to produce, but I didn’t know how… so adding up my ten years of production, today I can apply many techniques and lessons learned”.

Flash EP is composed of three tracks that talk to each other to exemplify the dynamics of construction of the artist’s sets. The first track that names the EP, Flash, refers to the minimal techno that Tarter has been presenting since the beginning of his career and brings a more joyful feeling, with drums and the striking vocals. Blackout is more linear, breathless and more intense, with drums in evidence that are also characteristic of the artist’s delivery with my hybrid set. Lightning has a little bit of both, dark and minimalist elements.

“When I listen to the Flash EP I think this is my real identity.”

Tarter started to pave his way to bigger stages in 2015, when he received massive support for his track Hits and Misses, including the ultra hyped Richie Hawtin, a fact that was repeated many times on other occasions. One thing leads to another and Tarter was chosen by Richie Hawtin himself to be ambassador for his brand of mixers in Brazil, PLAYdifferently alongside artists such as Chris Liebing, Luciano, Dubfire, Loco Dice and Nicole Moudaber.

Another strong figure in the dance music scene to rely on Tarter’s talent as a substract of his generation is techno legend Renato Ratier. The iconic D-Edge Group invited Tarter to join the team of residents of legendary club D-EDGE, in São Paulo, as well as the cast of D AGENCY.

Tarter is frequent DJ such as Warung Beach Club, Club Vibe and Tribaltech Festival. With releases on labels such as Patent Skillz, MiniHard and Prisma Techno, Tarter is also behind the labels Urban Soul and Createch Records.

Tarter‘s Flash EP was released by Universal Music Group on July 8, 2022 and is available on major digital platforms. Interested? Check out Tarter‘s discography on Spotify and if you want, check out his social media @tartermusic.
