Watch Simon Casey transform Rag ‘N’ Bone Man’s ‘Skin’ into his own

Hailing from Ireland, family man Simon Casey combines his love for traditional Irish folk with the contemporary sounds of modern pop ballads.

Catching his big break back in 2003, Simon Casey found himself in the right place at the right time. Making his way into the shows finals of You’re A Star, Simon Casey was catapulted to national stardom and gained fans from all around the country. Simon’s had a number of successful music endeavors, including his first single, A Better Plan’, which spent three weeks at number one in the Irish Top 30, going certified triple platinum. Simon’s second single, ‘Come Back To My Heart’, has also achieved platinum status with his debut album The Heart garnering double platinum status. Including songs that were offered to him by Gary Barlow (Take That), Ronan Keating, and Wayne Hector (‘Flying Without Wings’) The Heart became incredibly popular nationally and globally. 

In addition to a number of television performances on the popular shows; The Late Late Show, Open House, Ireland AM, and more, Simon Casey’s second studio album Not Like Me followed suit and achieved gold status. Whether they’re shows of epic proportion or smaller more intimate gigs, Simon is constantly on the road performing to his loyal fan base. Possibly one of this talented Irish singer songwriter’s most profound accomplishments was when he recorded the Irish rugby world cup anthem, ‘Ireland’s Call’ and performed it to 80,000 people.

In his latest video, Simon takes on Rag ‘N’ Bone Man’s incredible track ‘Skin’. In his stunning rendition, Simon enlists the help of fellow musicians, Paul Skelton, Joe Egan and Ronan Nolan. Simon’s version is stripped back, intimate and provides a new insight into the original song using an ensemble of beautifully sounding acoustic elements. With his third studio album, On Song, released back in 2014 and reaching No.1 in the Irish iTunes chart, Simon is currently working on his fourth which is set for release this year (2017).
