5 fresh tracks for New Music Friday

It’s Friday! We’ve pulled together five fresh tracks from the release day drop. From the emo-shoegaze stylings of The Yacht Club to the highly-anticipated EP drop from Mae Muller – we’ve got your weekend playlist covered.

Doe – ‘Team Spirit’

London-based three-piece Doe dropped their latest single, ‘Team Spirit’, pulled from their second album, Grow into It.

Speaking about the track, guitarist and vocalist Nicola Leel said: “Team Spirit is about enthusiastically allowing your own needs and desires to take a back seat in the pursuit of pleasing those around you … This song is a masked celebration of shedding those layers of conditioning and emerging as your own adult person, like a beautiful angry onion.”

They’ve also just announced a headline UK/EU tour for 2019, fresh off their stint touring with Speedy Ortiz. Check out the full dates here.

Mae Muller‘Busy Tone’

North-London artist Mae Muller has dropped her highly-anticipated EP, Frankly. Muller has built a reputation writing break-up anthems that hold trashy men to account, and ‘Busy Tone’ is no exception. Unapologetic, brash and addictively catchy – Muller is undoubtedly one to watch for 2019.

Ella Vos‘Ocean’

LA-based songstress Ella Voss has dropped the second single from her forthcoming second album, ‘Ocean’.

Following the success of her self-released debut album, Voss’ life was turned upside down by a Lymphoma diagnosis. In her upcoming album, she shares her experiences post-diagnosis. Check out the synchronously uplifting and heartbreaking track above.

Arran George‘How High Does the English Grass Grow’

Cumbrian artist Arran George dropped his debut EP, What I See on Daytime TV, this week. It’s a series of lush tracks, highly-crafted despite the bedroom set-up they were born from. Speaking about ‘How High Does the English Grass Grow’, George said: “It reminds me of a fever dream, I’m not sure if it will make sense to people, but I think people will understand when they listen to it.”

The Yacht Club‘In Amber’

London-based emo four-piece The Yacht Club have shared a new single, ‘In Amber’, taken from their upcoming release, The Last Words That You Said To Me Have Kept Me Here And Safe.

‘In Amber’ is the latest track to be taken from the record – an autumn-hued, harmonious reflection of ageing whilst still cherishing your formative years. Check it out above.

The Last Words That You Said To Me Have Kept Me Here And Safe is set for release via Beth Shalom Records on 25th January 2019.
