Chester Bennington’s son is re-recording his dad’s old material

Before he rose to fame as a nu-metal architect writing angsty anthems for Linkin Park, the late Chester Bennington fronted a group called Grey Daze.

Now, with the help of the late singer’s family and friends, the post-grunge act has revealed plans to record their old material – notably with the help of Chester’s 22-year-old son Jaime on vocals.

Jaime has made clear strides in his late father’s footsteps, releasing a number of his own compositions via Soundcloud over the years.

In a Facebook alongside a photo in the booth, Grey Daze wrote: “Chester would have been so very proud of his Son Jaime Bennington. We had Jaime sing along with his father last night at NRG Recording Studios and his voice is great! Sounds a lot like his father and we were all very proud to be a part of it.”

Korn legends Brian ‘Head’ Welch and James ‘Munky’ Shaffer, P.O.D.’s Marcos Curiel, Bush’s Chris Traynor and Ryan Shuck of Dead By Sunrise are also involved in the upcoming release.

In 2017, Chester Bennington was found dead at his home in California at just 41-years-old.

The Los Angeles coroner’s office later confirmed TMZ reports that Bennington had taken his own life.

Following his death, Linkin Park dropped a re-worked live version of their last album, One More Light,  featured recordings from Chester Bennington‘s last performances.

Rap titan Jay-Z also paid tribute to Bennington soon after his passing, performing an emotionally charged rendition of Linkin Park songs ‘Numb‘/’Encore‘ for BBC Radio 1’s Live Lounge, dedicating the performance to him in hopes that the singer’s death would spark a wider discourse on male mental health.
