Kylie Minogue will perform the ‘legends slot’ at Glastonbury 2019

Aussie pop icon Kylie Minogue is the second headline act to be confirmed for Glastonbury 2019, where she will take on the coveted legend’s slot.

Minogue will appear at the festival on Sunday (30th June), performing on the Pyramid Stage in the afternoon.

The esteemed slot has previously been filled with the likes of Dolly Parton, Lionel Richie and Neil Diamond.

The announcement comes 14 years after Kylie pulled out of her Glastonbury debut.

In 2004, the singer pulled out of her headline appearance out of the festival to receive treatment for breast cancer.

Kylie took to Twitter to announce her performance at the festival: “I’m so thrilled to announce that I’ll be playing the ‘Legend slot’ on Sunday 30th June at @GlastoFest 2019. It will be 14 years since I was originally meant to appear there and so much has happened up to now. I can’t wait to see you all there to share this special show.”

Tweeting about the line-up addition, Glastonbury Festival wrote: “We are delighted to announce that Kylie is finally bringing her show to Glastonbury. She’ll play the legendary Sunday afternoon slot at next year’s Festival. And we cannot wait.”

Rumours have been circulating about Minogue finally performing at the festival, fuelled when the singer herself said in an interview that she was keen to attend: “When I was supposed to do it I think I would have been the first solo female to headline in however many years it was, so I was really proud of that at that time … So yes, it would be amazing and very emotional to be standing there and doing what I didn’t get to do all those years ago, for sure.”

Minogue is the second act to be confirmed for Glastonbury 2019, following on from last month’s announcement that Stormzy will headline the Pyramid Stage on Friday night.
