Listen to the Beatles previously unreleased ‘While my Guitar Gently Weeps’ demo

The Beatles have released a previously unheard acoustic demo of ‘While My Guitar Gently Weeps’.

It’s a snippet from the series of Beatles reissues coming next month in celebration of the White Album’s 50th anniversary.

The forthcoming release includes a six-CD deluxe set with 27 acoustic demos and 50 unreleased 1968 Abbey Road session outtakes.

Listen to ‘While My Guitar Gently Weeps (Acoustic Version, take 2)’ below, featuring George Harrison on guitar and Paul McCartney on harmonium, interrupted by some studio direction from Harrison (”Maybe you’d have to give him his own mic”):

The rendition also features lyrics which were omitted from the final demo: “I look from the wings at the play you are staging / As I’m sitting here doing nothing but aging.”

The White Album 50th anniversary re-issues are due to be released November 9th, and can be pre-ordered now.
