Reno-based artist and performer Mask Anatomica brought an anarchist touch of cyberpunk to the rock scene with her latest single, RISING. While the lyrics remind you of your impending doom and tempt you into making an imprint on the earth that you’d want to be remembered for, the galvanising electro-punk beats leave you psyched. In contrast to the cold and harsh instrumental tones, her disco soul style vocals remind you of what it means to be human in our dystopic age.
In the short space of time since the former session vocalist and rock band frontwoman made her debut in 2019, she’s proven impossible to ignore. Her edgy, veracious style has been witnessed at the Mysticon Film Festival, the Florence Film Festival and the Berlin Underground Film Festival. Given that she’s had to navigate her way around a global pandemic at the outset of her career, there will be no stopping her from here on out. What Mad Max Fury Road was to the film world, Mask Anatomica is to the airwaves.
