Responding to the sour incident, Grande said: “That’s ’cause one of ya’ll threw a lemon at me, shit.”

While the bitter lemon-thrower’s identity remains a mystery, it has been speculated that the singer was targeted by an angry Beyonce fan, responding to the alleged pay gap between Grande’s set and Beyonce’s landmark 2018 performance.

The lemon is thought to be a reference to Beyonce’s critically acclaimed 2016 record Lemonade.

However, The Blast has since alleged that the gender gap between the pair that is incorrect, with both artists reportedly receiving $8 million (£6.1 million) for their respective Coachella sets.

25-year-old Grande became the iconic California festival’s youngest ever headliner when she performed her first Sunday set earlier this month (14th April).
