Someone has finally given Phoebe Bridgers the sword she deserves

Phoebe Bridgers has finally received the “giant, fuck-off Excalibur” she deserves.

A fan gifted the ‘Motion Sickness’ singer the sword after her recent show with Better Oblivion Community Centre, her music project with Connor Oberst.

It follows on from a tweet made by Bridgers indicating that Ryan Adams excluded her from receiving a sword on International Women’s Day during their tour together.

Responding on Twitter to TheNicheBlog article, ‘Every Line of Motion Sickness Ranked by How Much It Makes Me Want to Give Phoebe Bridgers A Sword’, Phoebe revealed: “I was on tour with Ryan Adams on Women’s Day a few years ago and he got every woman on the crew a sword except for me.”

A note pierced on the sword read: “To protecc, to attacc, to looking fucking tight as hecc. Phoebe, I hope you like this real, authentic sword. You don’t need it, but you deserve it. Thanks for sharing your sad songs with us.”

Last month, Bridgers was one of several women who went on record with the New York Times in a report that revealed a troubling pattern of emotional abuse and controlling behaviour by Ryan Adams.

Bridgers spoke alongside Mandy Moore and Megan Butterworth, recounting her working and personal relationship with Adams and the influence he exerted over her career.

The New York Times also exposed an account of Adams’ alleged sexual misconduct with an underage fan, which subsequently led to an FBI investigation being opened against the singer.

Adams has denied the allegations and has recently cancelled his upcoming tour and album.
