Streams of ‘Gangsta’s Paradise’ have spiked 237% thanks to Sonic The Hedgehog

Coolio’s 1995 hit ‘Gangsta’s Paradise’ has been given an unexpected new lease of life – as the soundtrack for the trailer for the highly-anticipated, yet controversial, Sonic The Hedgehog film.

Streams for the 1995 classic have lurched up following the trailer’s release last week (April 30th) up to 11 million streams.

Billboard has reported that the track has received a 237% boost in just a week, with daily plays of the tracks’ YouTube hosted video reaching as much as 712,000 last week.

It’s landed the 90s’ banger back into the YouTube Top Songs chart in the UK, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand and three more countries.

Sonic The Hedgehog, which features voice cameos from Jim Carrey, Ben Schwartz, Tika Sumpter, James Marsden, premieres in cinemas in November 2019.
