One To Watch: Secret Garden Party 2017

Secret Garden Party is apprehensively entering its final ever outing to the lavish countryside of Huntingdon this summer. After a solid 15 year run, it’s welcomed many an avid festival-goer to its quirky setting and charmed many alike with its boutique nature. Alas, here we are at the unfortunate end. It’s no reason to distress, though; the festival’s curtain call performance is boasting a myriad of talent including Toots & the Maytals, Jagwar Ma and Metronomy. It’s our job here to give you the heads up on some acts which might otherwise pass you by at the final Secret Garden Party.

Will Joseph Cook

This 18-year-old youngster has been doing the rounds lately and has been backed by Greg James on BBC Radio 1 with the prestigious title of ‘Track of the Day‘ for his single, ‘Girls Like Me’. Currently touring up and down the country, the singer-songwriter is gifting us his debut album next month so there’s plenty to merit you checking him out at Secret Garden Party this year.

Toothless

Remember Bombay Bicycle Club? Of course you do. Well, after touring the world and releasing chart-topping albums, BBC bassist Ed Nash has taken up a new project in Toothless. Think whimsical folk pop that feels right at home in the dreamy landscape of Secret Garden Party; it’s a no-brainer. If Bombay Bicycle Club ever floated your boat, you owe it to yourself to check out Toothless this summer.

Let’s Eat Grandma

Right off the bat, with a name like Don’t Eat Grandma, you’re bound to be intrigued… and so you should be. Having had their debut album labelled as ‘the best debut since REM’s Murmur’, they’ve got to be doing something right. The ambitious teenage female duo from Norwich have been churning out some synth-heavy melody driven numbers of late, so slap on some glitter and go have a boogie to these guys at SGP.

All Them Witches

This psychedelic outfit from Nashville are sure to get you in the mood for the weird and wonderful festivities that awaits the final ever SGP; it would be a missed opportunity to let them pass you by. Their hypnotic and dreamy melodies draw you in immediately, and their latest offering, Sleeping Through War, has been raking in the good reviews. So go and get involved, you won’t be disappointed.

Pumarosa

Pumarosa have been an outfit tipped for success by many and have constantly been labelled as ‘Ones to Watch’, and we completely agree. Think infectious and upbeat new wave that will keep your feet moving ’til the very last hit of the drum. They’ve been highly praised for their energetic and immersive live performances, need we say more?

This is your last chance to experience Secret Garden Party,  20th-23st July, so grab your tickets quick!
