Benin City share primal new visuals for ‘Take Me There’

Benin City have unveiled the visuals for their latest single, ‘Take Me There‘.

Take Me There‘ is a gritty monologue-style track which sees vocalist Joshua Idehen embark on an intense and descriptive journey through rave culture. Drawing on their collective experiences as clubbers, bar workers and observers, the band’s new single and album come as an ode to London’s nightlife. The strobe-lit visuals for ‘Take Me There‘ perfectly capture the energy and emotion of the dance floor. Watch below.

We always felt the album should start with something about that giddy anticipation when walking into a club for the first time,” the band said about the track. ‘That feeling as you walk through the double door and bass fills your knees and everything is potential and everyone is interesting and dry ice and strobes are in the air. We had been working on this beat with our producer Marc Pell (Micachu and the Shapes) for a few weeks and still tinkering with the chorus section when I wrote a poem about my own experiences – most of my lyrics first come as either whole poems, couplets or as a chorus. We placed it on the beat and it was a perfect fit.

The London-based three-piece, comprised of vocalists Joshua Idehen and Shanaz Dorsett with multi-instrumentalist Tom Leaper, will release their new record on Moshi Moshi in spring 2018.
