corner club Release Exciting New Track ‘dreaming (梦中)’

corner club are a San Francisco based duo who write relatable tales with heart & emotion at the forefront of every lyric, chord and melody. New and exciting track dreaming (梦中) is no different in that regard as we discover the story of how one of the band members lost their grandmother during Covid, and how it feels to come to terms with the loss of a loved one from across the world.

With gracious and well thought out melodies, dreaming (梦中) seems to catch you off guard and by the end touches you on a level deep enough that most artists would struggle to translate. We all have to deal with death at one point or another throughout life, but even if you haven’t – the feeling of loss is projected onto you with so much honestly, that you’re left with the sense that at least someone else has gone through it and processed it properly. Take note.

On dreaming (梦中), corner club say:

“The opening line, ‘You visited me last night // forty years younger’ references a dream shared over the family group chat, as loved ones who left China years ago were forced to process and grieve from the opposite side of the world. Writing dreaming (梦中) was a way to process my grandma’s death, starting with a dream that my aunt shared and weaving in messages and memories from my family.”

In time for Asian American and Pacific Islander heritage month, this is a stark reminder of the importance of family and unity among kin, and an example for people to hold onto. Be sure to check out the track below and support the artist!
