Having collaborated with Grammy Award-winning producer and engineer Aamir Yaqub on their beachy breakout single, ‘Island’, Italian duo M w S have been keen to prove this wasn’t a fluke. This year, the London-based group have released two singles, ‘Complicated’ and ‘Grow’, both of which have featured on official Spotify playlists, and seen support from Jamz Supernova on BBC Radio 1 Xtra and BBC Introducing London.
Enter the latest single from M w S’s repertoire, ‘Too Young To Know’ is a melancholic pop jam that manages to strike the perfect balance between electronic and organic elemental sounds. ‘Too Young To Know’ works to compliment and build upon the previous two singles, weaving a story that culminates in this third and final chapter.
Listen to the track below.
Samples of an Italian poem written by M w S during the recording process feature throughout, serving to add an extra layer of emotional depth to the track, while paying homage to the duo’s roots.
On the track’s meaning, M w S said: “[It is] a song about realising how important something is only when you have already lost it. Even though the whole world seems to think it(s too late, there’s nothing you wouldn’t do to try and take it back. It’s a kind of nostalgia that’s happy and sad at the same time.”
