KK Lewis drops glorious debut EP ‘Dreaming’

Complete with our previous favorites, ‘Good Enough’ and ‘First Bus Home’, KK Lewis’ debut EP is something to be marveled. Packed with clever indie-pop production and astute relatable writing, ‘Petals’ is a clear fan favorite.

Intimate and immediately grabbing, KK has perfected the art of setting out distinct narratives that plant the listener firmly inside her head. Discussing the project, KK Lewis explains:

“This EP represents a skeleton of KK Lewis. Each song explores a different version of me, revealing a new story and a new sound. It highlights the confusion and insecurity I felt during my teenage years, not feeling comfortable enough to be myself. This project follows a journey of self-discovery and creates a foundation for my sound to grow from. I recorded this EP with Papa Rua in his house. We spent a long time listening to lots of different music, talking about what we wanted the record to sound like and the story I wanted to tell.”

With influences such as Amy Winehouse, Arlo Parks, and Celeste coming to the fore, KK is still very much an artist of her own. Swayed by only her own intuition, the EP moves between the danceable guitar-work of ‘Loop Now’ to the ambient relaxed charm of the EP’s title track.

Originally rising to prominence busking in Dublin, the Irish singer dropped her debut release last year and quickly garnered attention as ‘One To Watch’ for 2021. We can certainly vouch for that, and KK is definitely making her mark.
