Pook Hustle to release infectious new single ‘C.R.E.A.M.’ ft. Angela Star

Pook Hustle has had to overcome loads of obstacles to get to this point in his life. His first dream was to play basketball professionally, however, he didn’t receive a scholarship to get in. After moving back to Brooklyn, he used music to escape his day to day – and his new dream was born.

His latest single “C.R.E.A.M.” is an infectious new release. Atmospheric but heartwarming synths work hand in hand with minimal but effective drums that cut through the mix. Pook Hustle’s vocals and bars land on top – softly penned but impactful and soaked in colourful R&B. Angela Star’s heavenly sounding backing vocals turn the track into an anthem.

Speaking further about the release, Pook Hustle reveals: “As an artist, I normally sit on beats for months but when “WhatsHisName” sent the instrumental for C.R.E.A.M., I instantly got to work. Well sort of. I couldn’t write sitting still so I decided to ride my bike to Downtown, Brooklyn and next thing I knew, the words just started flowing. The hook was so catchy and fun that I instantly knew I had to contact singer/comedian “Angela Star” to be a part of the record. It’s one of my favourite sessions to this day because it was so much fun and my normal “Hustleman” approach to recording became play.

I love creative writing so on “C.R.E.A.M.”, I used visualisation to take the listener on a journey into an experience at a strip club. Growing up I was a huge fan of Daft Punk so electronic/dance infused music has always been a part of my inspiration. Furthermore, in 2013 I was entering my freshman year of college and during my first basketball season I heard “Acid Rap” for the first time & was greatly inspired by the Chicago “juke” sound.

With attention from publications such as Lyrical Lemonade, Respect Magazine, Earmilk and many more, we can’t wait to see where he’ll take this.
