The new singles will mark the first new releases from the group since 1982. The songs were recorded during a project which will see avatars of the band perform. In the statement posted on Instagram, the band said:

The decision to go ahead with the exciting Abba avatar tour project had an unexpected consequence. We all felt that, after some 35 years, it could be fun to join forces again and go into the recording studio. So we did. And it was like time had stood still and we had only been away on a short holiday. An extremely joyful experience! We may have come of age, but the song is new. And it feels good.

Bjorn Ulvaeus, 72, spoke about the upcoming project during a speech in Brussels and revealed that the “Abbatars” were being created as part of a digital world tour which should take place in 2019 or 2020.
