Dame Vera Lynn celebrates her 100th birthday

On her 100th birthday, Dame Vera Lynn spoke to her pupils at her old school who sang Happy Birthday to her along with some of her hits.

The group of 20 Year Five students from Brampton Park Primary School sang some of her songs including ‘We’ll Meet Again‘ and ‘The White Cliffs of Dover‘. The group was joined by a backing acoustic guitar.

Speaking via Skype, Lynn, affectionately known as the Forces’ Sweetheart, thanked the pupils and said, “I have very happy memories of my days at Brampton Park school and I do hope that you’re happy there now. Thank you once again for your wishes and I wish you all the best. Bye-bye for now and stay healthy and enjoy yourselves.
