David Bowie’s 1981 Volvo car sold at auction for a crazy amount of money

David Bowie‘s 1981 Volvo was recently sold at auction for a huge amount of money – over £160,000.

The auction took place in Switzerland and the vehicle sold for 212,800 Swiss Francs (£160,735 / $218,000) which was nearly three times its top estimated price.

Only 6,620 models of the Volvo 262C were made with Bowie’s being one of the final produced of its kind. The car was reported to have just 53,000km (33,000 miles) on the clock and was described as being in “very good and well maintained original condition”. The vehicle was delivered to the singer’s house back in 1981 before ownership was later transferred to Bowie’s Belway Bros record label.
