Ed Sheeran deletes Twitter following Game of Thrones cameo backlash

Ed Sheeran has deleted his Twitter account following the widespread criticism of his cameo performance in Game of Thrones on Sunday.

The singer spoke less than a month ago about removing himself from the social media platform due to becoming fed up with online trolls. He has now erased his entire presence from the site.

Game of Thrones’ seventh season aired on Sunday (16th July) and saw the ‘Castle on the Hill‘ singer sitting among a group of soldiers leading them in a sing-along. Since the HBO episode hit the screens Sheeran has suffered a backlash online. Check out the singer’s cameo here.

One user wrote: “Why is Ed Sheeran in Game of Thrones? That was horrendously cringey and awful.

Another said: “Oh FUCK OFF why is Ed Sheeran in Game of Thrones? This shit is meant to be a fantasy world and they’ve turned it into one of his music vids.

It has not been confirmed whether he will be returning to Twitter, or Game of Thrones for that matter, anytime soon but he is due to make an appearance on The Simpsons.
