Hudson Mohawke helped Sacha Baron Cohen make a track for ‘Who Is America?’

Sacha Baron Cohen’s new series “Who Is America? sees the comedian tricking people into participating in interviews with a variety of characters. The latest episode sees the actor go to Miami, Florida, disguised as a British ex-convict trying to turn his life around as a DJ.

At the Heart Nightclub in Miami, Cohen as ‘DJ Solitary’ sits down with a club promoter Jake Inphamous to gauge whether he’s got a shot at making it at EDM.

The tracks he presents are comprised of samples of soundbites he recorded “during his time in prison”. It has been revealed, however, that the track was actually created by famous Scottish DJ and producer, Hudson Mohawke.

During the clip, the fake DJ says he created samples from noises from around the prison he was detained in, including mess trays being smashed against someone’s head, toilet flushes, people vomiting and someone being stabbed… among other things.

“It’s a tragedy when someone gets stabbed, but the good thing is I was there to record it, so in a way they’ve given their lives to art,” Cohen says at one point.

Needless to say, the promoter dubbed the track “a masterpiece”.
