The Kinks frontman Ray Davies to be knighted

Ray Davies will be knighted by Prince Charles later today at Buckingham Palace.

It was announced in the 2017 Honours List that Davies would be knighted this year for services to the arts.

The frontman has already received a CBE from the Queen in 2014. Speaking about his new title he said: “Initially I felt a mixture of surprise, humility, joy and a bit embarrassed but after thinking about it, I accept this for my family and fans as well as everyone who has inspired me to write.”

Davies will be releasing new music on 21 April. The album, titled Americana, will be his first solo material for 10 years. He has already released lead single ‘Poetry‘, which you can hear below.

The album will be a follow-up to his 2007 Working Man’s Cafe. It is reportedly set to be the first of two volumes of music coming from Davies this year.
