Read Morrissey’s mysterious first ever tweet

Last night, Morrissey tweeted for the first time ever, having only set up his account this week.

The singer seemingly joined Twitter over the weekend when an account appeared on the social media platform with the handle “@officialmoz”. Now, the Smiths frontman has issued the first cryptic tweet from the account.

Spent the day in bed…” the musician’s first post reads, but speculation has prompted people to assume the tweet is not all that it seems. With the release of his new album, Low In High School, on the horizon BBC Radio 6 Music has reported a song of the same name, ‘Spent The Day In Bed‘, is due to air on Shaun Keaveny‘s programme today. See the tweet below.

The new song, ‘Spent The Day In Bed‘, reportedly includes the lyric “Stop…Watching the news, because the news contrives to frighten you.” The new track will be the first single off The Smiths frontman’s new album. Low In High School is set for release 17th November.

Recently an exclusive unreleased Smiths song was uploaded to SoundCloud. The track blends old and new together and was recorded live in Boston back in 1986. Listen to the nostalgic cut here
