Stormzy has donated a four-figure sum to enable a student to enroll at the prestigious Harvard Graduate School of Education.
South-west Londoner Fiona Asiedu was looking to raise £12,000 to complete a nine-month Masters degree in Human Development & Psychology when the MC donated £9,000 to her cause and also retweeted her crowdfunding campaign, enabling her to reach her target in just 20 hours.
After pulling in the necessary funds, Asiedu tweeted: “I am extremely overwhelmed by what has happened in the last 24 hours. I just want to take this time to express my sincere appreciation to every single one of you who contributed towards the campaign.”
Her total fees for the course are £59,000 – but the majority of these are covered by a scholarship and financial aid from the school.
Asiedu has since stretched her target and stated that any funds above £14,000 raised by June 11th will be put into a foundation she is setting up to help “black British students from low income families who secure a place at Oxford or Harvard.”
