The Overtones singer Timmy Matley dies aged 36

The singer of The Overtones, Timmy Matley, has died at age 36, the band have confirmed.

Matley was diagnosed with stage three malignant melanoma, a form of skin cancer, in 2016.

The band announced the news of the Irish-born singer’s death on Twitter stating: “It is with great sadness that we have to announce that our dear friend and brother Timmy has passed away. We know this news will be as heartbreaking for you all as it is for us. We appreciate your love and support at this difficult time.” See below.

Before his death, Matley had announced he would be taking part in a charity skydive for
Chelsea’s Royal Marsden hospital, where he had received treatment, on May 4. The fundraising campaign is still open and has so far made over £6,000.
