Watch Dave Grohl’s mum embarrass him with middle school report card on Colbert

Dave Grohl featured on ‘The Late Show with Stephen Colbert’ last night.

The Foo Fighters frontman appeared in support of his Mother, Virginia Hanlon Grohl, who was promoting her new book ‘From Cradle to Stage: Stories From the Mothers Who Rocked and Raised Rock Stars’.

During the touching interview Mrs. Grohl shared a photo of her son at a young age, and Colbert reads Dave’s sixth grade report card out loud while he grows increasingly uncomfortable.

Elsewhere, Dave shares stories about his childhood, and his mother talks about their relationship in the wake of Kurt Cobain’s death. Grohl also revealed he joined the Preservation Hall Jazz Band (who were sitting in with “Colbert” house band Jon Batiste and Stay Human) to perform ‘Santiago‘. Watch the video above.

From Cradle to Stage—which features Virginia Hanlon Grohl’s interviews with the mothers of famous musicians including Dr. Dre, Amy Winehouse, Haim, and Michael Stipe—is out now.
