Labour MP, Sarah Jones, has quoted Stormzy in her first House Of Commons speech.
The elected member of Stormzy’s hometown of Croydon was giving her first speech in the Commons yesterday (12th July) when she quoted the grime MC’s lyrics.
Speaking about the number of young people who voted for Labour, or even the first time, in the general election, Jones discussed her fellow MP’s need to not fail those who had put their faith in them
“If the election has taught us anything, it’s that we cannot take anyone for granted,” Jones said. “As Croydon’s Stormzy put so well in one of his songs: ‘You’re never too big for the boot’.”

The comment was welcomed with laughter as Jones urged MPs to listen to their constituents to do their best to “make a difference in their lives”.
