Spuri’s Spotify catalog already featured 53 songs prior to the release of his debut album, “Ring of Light,” in late September 2021 via Hotstage Records. Now, the artist presents a fine musical selection to travel from acid to funk that I address here as pure techno.
It was back in August when I have first listened to this album, like a month before its release and it really blew my mind. It’s techno, it’s simple and its unique what Spuri present in his first album “Ring Of Light”. So, in October I have published an article in spanish, together with an exclusive interview with Spuri, on DJ Mag Latino America. It’s funny and even more so these days, with a growing number of DJs and music producers, as these are crucial questions: When is the best time to release your first song? Should I release a single, an EP, or an album? For the artist Spuri, the moment was now and he has his reasons.
Spuri is an experienced DJ, music producer and former underground party producer in São Paulo, a land of drizzle and diverse cultural influences ranging from punk rock to pop and anything else you can imagine. But Spuri always drank from the source of house and techno that he boiled in the megalopolis. Already in the pioneering clubs of the strange nineties, he was involved in the electronic cultural scene of San Pablo from early, contemporary and compatriot of renowned figures such as Gabe, DJ Marky and several others, as well as DJ Murphy – his partner at Hotstage Records- who is present on the album “Ring Of Light” as co-author of the song “BNC” who comments: “We met in São Paulo a few years ago and after coinciding in several concerts together, we became great friends!”.
Spuri has among his main hits, the track “Belarus” from 2016, with millions of streams and presence in the top charts and sets of important artists from all over the world, in addition to the desired Top 1 of Melodic House and Techno in Beatport, in 2018 , with the track “Cattleya”. Also highlighted is the fifth best-selling release in the world in 2020, with “Lions” EP. “Bella Vu”, from the new album “Ring Of Light”, was at No. 34 in the Top 100 of Beatport Techno (Raw / Deep / Hypnotic).
