When an upcoming artist has the ability to get Mark Radcliffe to play his latest single – a free download at that – on his Radio 2 show, you know that artist must have something about them. Previously, we’ve featured young folk musician Philip Murray Warson following the release of recent EP ‘Last of the Hunted’, and now it’s more than worth revisiting his rootsy charm for these new singles.

‘The Trees They Grow So High’ is perhaps the stronger of the two, a more traditional folk song featuring the excellent Helen O’Hara (Dexys Midnight Runners) on the violin to excellent effect. Taking a fuller, more electric approach is ‘The Falling of the Leaves’ – which takes the poem of WB Yeats and lays it in a folk-rock bed. Both songs come well recommended, and also free of charge from Bandcamp and Soundcloud.
